Building an Anti-Corruption Culture from an Early Age, Undip Students Provide Education Through Snakes and Ladders Games and Movie

KLATEN – Students from the second team of KKN (Student Community Service) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) successfully campaigned for anti-corruption education titled “Strengthen Integrity Towards the Golden Generation” to elementary school students in Dukuh Village, Bayat District, Klaten Regency on Sunday (04/08/24). This social campaign aimed to strengthen personal integrity from an early age to combat corrupt behaviour. The target audience was students in grades 4, 5, and 6. The campaign titled “Strengthen Integrity Towards the Golden Generation,” initiated by Nashira Akhida Zahrani, a Communication Science student at FISIP Undip, aimed to introduce anti-corruption values to elementary school students.

The media used in this campaign included a short film and a Snakes and Ladders game. The activity, attended by 30 participants, began with the screening of the film “Subur itu Jujur” (Honesty Leads to Prosperity), a film by Gelora Yudhaswara, the winner of ACFFest 2018. After the film screening, the activity continued with a discussion about the film and a practical session of the Snakes and Ladders game. Through these activities, participants were introduced to moral values, daily activities that should not be emulated, and self-strengthening through conviction. Additionally, the Snakes and Ladders game was chosen as an interactive medium suitable for the characteristics of elementary school children. Through the game, they learned from a different perspective.

Practice of playing Snakes and Ladders

The Snakes and Ladders game was specially designed with snake elements representing the seeds of corrupt behaviour and ladder elements representing honest behaviour. As part of the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, this campaign aimed to build an anti-corruption culture in a fun way. Nashira, a Communication Science student at FISIP Undip, emphasized that honesty would always yield positive results in any situation. “Kids, if we are honest, it will certainly yield positive results, just like in the film and the ladder elements in the game I made,” she stressed. Positive responses came from both participants and the parents present. The parents expressed their appreciation for the attention-grabbing campaign that instilled honest behaviour in their children. One participant, Gaffa, expressed that today’s learning activities were very enjoyable and not boring compared to reading pages of text. “It was fun, the snakes and ladders game was great, in the game, there is a picture of this, if you buy four biscuits, you must not pay for only one,” he said.
