Temanggung, Central Java – July 23, 2026 – As part of the Community Service Program (KKN-T IDBU Team 21), Dzikrina Amallia, a Communication Science student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Diponegoro University, conducted an Instagram management training for officials of Campuranom Village. The training marked the final stage of a community engagement program focused on rebranding the village’s official Instagram account to support digital transformation and strengthen the village’s public image through social media.
The training introduced village officials to the fundamental features of Instagram, including content publishing using pre-designed templates, highlight management, and strategies for maintaining a consistent visual identity. The mentoring program was designed to equip village staff with the skills needed to independently manage the Instagram account after the completion of the KKN program, ensuring that the platform remains an active and sustainable channel for public communication.
The initiative was developed based on observations made during the KKN program regarding the condition of Campuranom Village’s social media presence. Although the village government already had an official Instagram account, its visual identity lacked consistency, limiting the effectiveness of information delivery. The account name was also difficult for the public to find, while the profile layout and content organization required improvements to create a more attractive, professional, and user-friendly appearance.
In response to these findings, Dzikrina initiated a comprehensive Instagram rebranding project aimed at strengthening the village government’s digital communication strategy. In today’s digital era, social media serves not only as a platform for documenting activities but also as a digital representation of public institutions that can enhance institutional image, promote transparency, and introduce local potential to a broader audience. Therefore, effective social media management has become an essential component of delivering quality public information services at the village level.
The rebranding process began with renaming the official Instagram account to a simpler and more searchable username, @desa.campuranom, making it easier for residents and visitors to locate the village’s official account. A new logo was then designed to reflect the identity and characteristics of Campuranom Village. This visual identity was complemented by a consistent branding strategy, resulting in a more professional and recognizable appearance across the account.
Beyond the visual redesign, the program also included the creation of standardized Instagram post templates that can be used for various types of publications, including government announcements, public service information, and documentation of social, cultural, and village development activities. The account biography was reorganized, and content was categorized into Instagram Highlights, enabling residents to access important information more quickly and efficiently. These improvements were intended to create a social media platform that is more structured, informative, visually appealing, and accessible to diverse audiences.
The program also contributes to the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting the adoption of digital technology in village information management; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening public communication and improving access to information; and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by enhancing the capacity of village government to provide transparent, accountable, and sustainable public information services.
Today, the rebranded Instagram account has officially been adopted by the Campuranom Village Government as its primary digital communication platform. The continued management of the account is expected to strengthen communication between the village government and the community while promoting the village’s development programs and local potential to a wider audience. This initiative demonstrates the practical application of Communication Science in supporting digital transformation at the village level through strategic communication, public information services, and community empowerment.
